George G. Szpiro, geboren 1950, studierte Mathematik in Zürich und promovierte, später wandte er sich dem Journalismus zu. Seit 1987 berichtet er von Jerusalem aus für die Neue Zürcher Zeitung über Israel sowie über Mathematik und andere wissenschaftliche Themen. Seine monatlich in der NZZ am Sonntag erscheinende Kolumne »George Szpiros kleines Einmaleins« wurde von der Schweizerischen Akademie der Naturwissenschaften mit dem Prix Média 2003 ausgezeichnet.
