Although Dilly is sick, she is obsessed with saving her beloved Bermuda from the destructive, anti-colonial forces. Her efforts are complicated when her husband is inadvertently caught up in the Islands' drug trade. Before long, Jack too is caught up in a web of deceit that almost costs him his life. Unexpectedly a young, female, bigoted black lawyer enters his life. Jack is intrigued by her racial hatred and sets himself the challenge of changing her attitude. Racial tension, threats, abductions, violence, murder and finally the assassination of the Islands' Governor shock Bermuda leaving, Jack and his friends wondering what the future might hold.
