The first half of the book reviews the basic engineering methodology and proceeds with the fundamental concepts of classical control theory. The second half deals with more advanced topics featuring applications to physiology of nonlinear dynamics, parameter estimation methods and adaptive estimation and control. In each chapter, worked examples will be used to illustrate key concepts and methodology. These are followed by reasonably in-depth analyses of selected physiological control models that highlight the topic in question. The reader is encouraged to perform guided experiments with the simulation models provided (using Simulink/Matlab). MICHAEL C.K. KHOO is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Pediatrics in the Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Southern California. He is a fellow of the IEEE, Biomedical Engineering Society, the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering, and the International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering.
