Disability development in recent days is an integral part of neo-development paradigm all over the world. Despite the presence of several legal provisions to protect the rights and welfare of disabled people, Dhaka is far below from a disability friendly city because of lack of proper monitoring, implementation and lack of adequate impetus to protect disability rights. The book explored the unconscious but systematic way of discriminations against physically challenged people. It preludes the necessity of conscious and logical efforts to make urban services and facilities i.e. education, health, employment and built environment accessible to them in Dhaka city. It investigated and evaluated also the development activities initiated by the public and private institutions for disabled people. The analysis is substantiated by few case studies as well. The book is ended with a policy-activity matrix for ensuring better accessibility for the physically challenged people in Dhaka city. This book is particularly helpful for the urban planning professionals and those working for disability developments in urban areas of developing nations.
