Georgia is well-known as "Open Air Museum of Soils" among soils science community across the globe. Different soil types and varieties are determined by short-range change of its formation factors, mainly by relief, elevation and climate conditions. Assessment of the soil resources and their capacities is well recognized challenge for the country. Investigation of physical properties of the soils is one of the very important directions to meet overarching need for food security, climate change mitigation and sustainable development. Working on soil data and mapping soil properties is the crucial step for enriching the knowledge. By financial support of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation the institute is working on National Soil Atlass of Georgia comprising maps for the soil physical properties. The atlass to be published in 2018. This book is an extended interpretation of the article published in journal "Annals of Agrarian Science" in 2017 with the same title.
