The use of foliage plants for interior decoration or interior plantscaping has become an integral part of contemporary design, playing an important role in our life.Philodendron is one among them.Philodendrons are popular ornamental foliage plants, constituting an important share in the foliage plant market and the rising popularities of self-heading cultivars have made them rank among the top ten most popular plants in the floricultural trade. Though commonly grown as houseplants many species/varieties of philodendrons are suited for the landscape in tropical and subtropical climates. There are even some that can be grown outdoors in Central Florida. Philodendrons are native to tropical America and comprise a conspicuous component of the native flora because of their abundance, different growth styles, and attractive, durable leaves which are able to survive and grow indoors.As philodendrons form a group of beautiful indoor plants, assessing the APTI of different species/varieties will help to identify the types suitable for specific indoor atmosphere.
