Cardiac electrical dysfunction predisposes the heart to a mechanical catastrophe that hinders a sufficient blood supply to the body; most electrical dysfunctions, however, are amenable to intervention if the responsible substrate is detected and repaired in advance. In clinical practice, while electrocardiogram is a standard tool for monitoring cardiac electrical dysfunctions, successful treatment still requires invasive catheter manipulation for electrical mapping in the heart. Much effort has been put in quantifying subject-specific cardiac electrical details from body surface electrocardiograms; most of them solely focus on electrical behavior of the heart and the result is confined to heart surfaces. This book presents a novel system approach for personalized noninvasive imaging of electrical functioning and electrophysiological property inside the 3D heart wall, with examples of phantom and human applications. This book should bring a fresh perspective to cardiac electrophysiological imaging; it will be useful to students and professionals either in this specific area, or in personalized biomedicine, medical image analysis, computer vision, signal processing and related areas.
