Rice-wheat cropping system is one of the most important cropping systems occupying 10.5 million hectare land in India. The "Performance of rice (oryza sativa) crop as affected by wheat straw management and nitrogen scheduling in rice - wheat cropping system" an experiment was conducted during kharif season. Six different treatments comprising wheat straw management and nitrogen scheduling were tested in a randomized block design with four replication. Growth parameter, Yield attributing characters, nutrient uptake and soil properties under different treatments were recorded. Results reveal that growth parameter, yield attributing character and yields were affected significantly by different treatment and were higher in the treatment of wheat straw incorporation. Among the nitrogen scheduling two split application was found better than three split application. Available nutrients estimated at different stages were higher in the treatments of wheat straw incorporation followed by burning and removal. Wheat straw management affected the organic carbon content of soil significantly. Bulk density also decline with the incorporation or burning of wheat straw.
