Over the last thirty years, a very large number of educators and researchers have come to the conclusion that the traditional methods for the teacher development are ineffective, inadequate, time and money consuming. Teachers say that traditional development methods do not offer permanent and long-term opportunities for them to change their classroom practices. The problem with traditional methods is that teachers do not have the required abilities to apply in the classroom what they learn during workshops. On the other hand, while applying the techniques they learned, they have no opportunity to get necessary help or assistance from experts, or get any feedback. Another problem is that many researches claim, beginning (novice) teachers struggle with many different problems in schools. It has been identified through many studies that beginning teachers are complaining about the lack of support by their colleagues and superiors. This book, therefore, provides a new model of peer coaching for the beginning teachers which is founded on equal partnership of coach and coachee who wish to exchange and enrich the existed knowledge and experience, and to improve student learning.
