Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or the body does not use the insulin it produces properly. Type 2 diabetes is the result of the body's misuse of insulin and accounts for more than 90% of diabetes worldwide. This disease is spreading rapidly throughout the world and is characterised by chronic hyperglycaemia, especially in adults, and is more prevalent in overweight people. In many health institutions, more than 80% of diabetes deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This book is intended for science students, other health professionals, and the general public, whether they are aware of the existence of this disease. In consulting, we thank the authors and publishers for having thought of making this study available to the public, we dare to believe that it will serve as a very useful book to all.
