It identifies some relevant theological themes in congregational CPE and concludes with a reflection on some benefits and challenges of this type of program. The author makes an important contribution to the discussion of developing CPE programs in congregational settings.

Karl Van Harn is an ACPE Supervisor who has supervised seminary students, chaplains, and pastors in their process of becoming effective pastors and leaders. He serves as Pastor of Congregational Life at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church in Jenison, Michigan. He is a graduate of Calvin Seminary (M.Div.) and Western Seminary (D.Min.).
