Photography is the process of making pictures byliterally drawing with light, albeit in a limited and restricted way.The recent digitization of photography offers unprecedentedopportunities to move beyond the traditional constraints of analogphotography, and lead to the enhancement and enrichment of visualmedia. In this book, we explore one approach to addressing thischallenge, namely, parallax photography. Our approach begins bycapturing multiple digital photographs of a scene fromdifferent viewpoints exhibiting parallax. We present algorithms that finddense correspondences among the captured imagery, as wellas algorithms for seamless interpolation. The approach alsoembodies methods and interfaces that identify and highlight theinteresting piecesof the captured data, and data representations forefficient storing and rendering. As we show in this book, the results, which allow re-experiencing subtle parallax, create a more visceralsense of immersion in the scene than traditional photographs.
