Studies dealing with law enforcement and ordermaintenance in Turkey primarily have been concernedwith the historical development of the TurkishNational Police (TNP). Not much research has focusedon methodical and comprehensive studies of the viewsof the police officers and middle managers views onTNP. Not has there been any research comparison ofthe views of managers and police officers relating topolice organizational culture. Further, very littleattention has been paid in Turkey to the existenceand characteristics of an organization culture andsubculture which might reflect and identifiablebehavioral and attitude set among officers. Thepurpose of this book is to examine the dimensions ofthe police organizational culture in Turkey andcompare items with similar identifiable groups in theU.S. Further this book intends to extend knowledge onpolice organizational culture by way of analyzingpolice officers perceptions relating to theirorganization s work environment. It is hoped thatthis study will provide a wealth of practicalinformation to police managers and others who seek aclear understanding about the police organizationalculture in Turkey and the U.S.

Dr. Kaan BÖKE was born in Ankara, Turkey. After graduating from
Police University, worked several parts of the Turkey as a police
first-middle level manager. During that time he also pursued
to continue his learning adventure. In August 2007, he finished
his PhD at Michigan State University, U.S. He published 3 books
and several articles.
