My book embodies the results of the investigations of an intensive field survey carried to explore diversity of plant mites on agri-horticultural crops. The book gives an account of taxonomic study of total collected specimen of plant mites. The study reported total of 122 species of plant mites belonging to 43 genera and 16 families were collected from different localities in fifteen districts of Southern West Bengal. The book reported 9 new records from India and 33 new records from West Bengal. The book covers the species diversity and distribution of plant mites in four predominant phyto-geographic regions [Forest region, Coastal plain region, Rarh region and Gangetic Delta region] of Southern Bengal. The survey reported that the highest species diversity of plant mites was found in Gangetic Delta region out of all the regions. The book describes the life history traits of mated and unmated progeny of Two-Spotted Spider Mite (TSSM) on five important host plants The outcome of the ecological study suggests that the mite population density is dependent on different climatic and seasonal factors of the given ecosystem in tropical scenario.
