Fuel cell-powered electric drives face significant challenges during load transients due to the slow dynamic response and nonlinear V-I behaviour of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs). To address this, the book presents a PEMFC-battery hybrid energy system regulated by a tuned buck-boost DC-DC converter and governed by a precisely tuned PI controller (Kp = 2, Ki = 2.55) to maintain a constant DC link voltage. The system powers a three-phase Field-Oriented Controlled (FOC) Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), which serves as an active dynamic load to evaluate system performance under transient conditions. The FOC strategy utilizes feedback from rotor position and current sensors to achieve high-performance torque and speed regulation. Simulation studies conducted in MATLAB/Simulink demonstrate the system's ability to deliver stable output voltage, efficient energy sharing, and robust performance under varying load and source conditions.
