Nicholas Freeman has always had a difficult, inexplicable life. Nicholas meets a strange, supernatural Blue Lady, and suddenly his life starts to make some sense. He learns that he is an incarnated angel, and that he has agreed to live his current life almost completely surrounded by dark-spirited and angry people, in order to bring God's Love and Light into their shadow world. His assignment, the third most terrible assignment ever handed out by Jehovah, is drawing to a close, but can he survive it?
