The author, having lived and experienced both poverty and prosperity presents and discusses facts and conditions that he believes supports more active federal government job creation of the magnitude that occurred during the Great Depression and following WWII when livable wages and affordable prices enabled and created the pathway to the American Dream. This foundation has been eroding for many reasons that are discussed and explained. The author hopes that a clearer understanding of the middle class American Dream and its virtual disappearance will show why we all must join the "Occupy Movements" and restore economic fairness and opportunity to America. As a member of the expanding middle class beginning in the 1950's, and beyond, I participated and was rewarded with economic gains and prosperity. The "American Dream" seemed to offer an opportunity for all Americans but we now realize that was, unfortunately, a time when diminishing returns began to materialize for the majority of Americans. The "Occupy Wall Street" started as a protest to this reality.
