Mexico is considered a megadiverse country worldwide, ranked between fourth or fifth place for having an enormous biodiversity in terms of animals and plants. In terms of the number of accessions of plants for medicinal use (4,000), it is considered the second most important country, being surpassed only by China (5,000 accessions reported), as for the number of reptiles, we are the number one country worldwide. In vascular plants we have approximately 26 thousand described and classified plants. Mexico in all its geography has many environments, ecosystems, and ecological niches, located in deserts, mountains and jungles, which makes it a polychromatic country. Another distinctive characteristic of Mexico is its enormous cultural roots in its 32 states. The cultural characteristics throughout the country are strongly associated with many festive and religious events throughout the 365 days of the year. Thus, the procurement, production and marketing of ornamental plants is recognized as a profitable and socioeconomically very important activity.
