The study has attempted to explore the fundamental contours and dimensions of contemporary ethnic minority problems in Nigeria through narrative profiles of most incidences and stance of most Nigeria's initial conflicts and agitations, which have so far bearing on the campaign for economic restitution and ecological rehabilitation especially by the oil-bearing communities in the Niger Delta, and the struggle for self determination and cultural integrity by non-Hausa/Fulani communities of the Northern Nigeria. The research has discovered that, Nigeria's internal conflicts are deeply rooted in complex historical and structural processes of pre-colonial and colonial incorporation and consolidation of diverse ethnic segments, federal territorial evolution and reorganization, revenue allocation and political competition.
