Tension builds as the two mothers are forced to maintain their professionalism and work on the case together. Nicki becomes involved in a series of chaotic events, including food fights in the cafeteria, her own kidnapping, and earns a new heroic image at school, which all bring her closer to her mother. Nicki Law is a name that no longer shames her. In the end, Nicki also discovers the truth about the divorce and the secret that her mother withheld from her to protect her from detesting her father.
