Dr. Alexander S. Poznyak graduated from Moscow Physical Technical Institute (MPhTI) in 1970. He earned Ph.D. and Doctor Degrees from the Institute of Control Sciences of Russian Academy of Sciences in 1978 and 1989, respectively. From 1973 up to 1993 he served this institute as researcher and leading researcher, and in 1993 he accepted a post of full professor (3-E) at CINVESTAV of IPN in Mexico. He is also a former head of the Automatic Control Department. He has been the supervisor of 36 Ph.D thesis’s (20 in Mexico). He has published more than 200 papers in different international journals and 10 books.
This edited monograph contains research contributions on a wide range of topics such as stochastic control systems, adaptive control, sliding mode control and parameter identification methods. The book also covers applications of robust and adaptice control to chemical and biotechnological systems. This collection of papers commemorates the 70th birthday of Dr. Alexander S. Poznyak.
