This is the story of a young boy growing up in a home with an alcoholic dad, a physically abusive older brother, mental illness and child neglect...and surviving. From my earliest memories at 5 years old and on into my late teens and early twenties, all these were present in our family in which I was the youngest of the five children. But along with the saddness of growing up as I did, this is a story of hope, victory and the truth of the promises in God's word. You can win, you can have victory in this life and there is always hope, regardless of the giants in your path. I was the youngest of five in this family but the fact is that we were all victims at one level or another. This is not a story about assigning blame, holding a grudge or pointing fingers. No one in my family is to blame for anything they did or didn't do regardless of the role. We were all victims...all blameless in the end. The focus of this book is positive, about making it through, about hope where there may not have seemed to be any at the time. It's about God using a bad situation for good and encouraging others who may be now or have been in a similar situation. This is not a book about who did what because all is forgiven for me in my mind and heart. It's about the result and moving forward in life in a positive way where so many millions struggle with the ability to do just that. In August of 1981, God reached down his hand as I reached up and He pulled me from the self destructive dark path I was on and saved my life. This is My Story; Lost in a Family of Seven
