In Christianity, Christians believe that music is a gift conferred from God to man. They play and sing the music for the purpose of giving praise the glory to God. This thesis focuses on rearrangement of hymns in PJ State Chinese Methodist Church. This church was established in February, 1982 and had a history of around thirty years. The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare original hymns and arranged hymns in the Church. Specifically, the analysis of the study includes harmony, rhythm, structure, texture and instrumentation. Furthermore, the methodology that was used in this research includes collecting information from secondary source, observation, observation of participants, and score analysis. By rearranging hymns, it would attract the younger generation to sing and to listen to hymns. And eventually they can expose and get to know the church music as well.
