Mosquitoes, major vectors of diseases such as dengue fever, malaria and filariasis, were the subject of a study carried out between May 2022 and November 2023 in the wilaya of Sétif (north-east Algeria). The aim was to identify the culicid fauna and ecologically characterize their breeding sites. Out of 4098 larvae collected from 21 sites at 13 stations, four genera were identified: Culex (76.61%), Culiseta (16.42%), Anopheles (6.71%) and Uranotaenia (0.24%), making a total of 12 species. Culex pipiens (69.42%) and Culiseta longiareolata (16.37%) were the most abundant. Abundance depended on the physical characteristics of the roosts and climatic factors. Natural habitats, notably meadows, riverbanks and ponds, were home to 70.79% of larvae. Culiseta longiareolata and Anopheles maculipennis dominated riversides, while Culex pipiens preferred ponds.
