A watershed is the geographical area from which surface water drains to a single outlet. The hydrological behaviour of the watershed is reflected by certain geomorphological characteristics of watershed. Geomorphological analysis is the systematic description of watershed's geometry and its stream channel system to measure the linear aspects of drainage network, areal aspects of drainage basin and relief aspects of channel network. Jog River is a river in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. The river has its origin in the Sahyadri ranges and flows westward and meets the Arabian Sea near Anjarle. The drainage pattern of Jog basin indicates that it is a sixth order basin. The jog river basin with drainage density value 1.60 km/km2 is more likely due to regions of highly permeable subsoil material under dense vegetative cover. The elongation ratio of Jog basin is 0.64 which which represents that the watershed is elongated. The results from morphometric assessment of the watershed are important in water resource management and for the selection of storage structures in the area for future management. The RS & GIS methods are time saving and have less chance of error occurrence.
