This book is about the morbidity and mortality pattern in late preterm in our setting. This study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital in Jammu and Kashmir from 2011 to 2014.The study was conducted in the Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology at G.B. Pant General Hospital and Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics LLala Ded (L.D) hospital and G.B. pant hospital, (associated hospitals of Government Medical College, Srinagar).1 to 2014 during our post graduate course. All data collected was analyzed using SPSS and Graphpad instat software. Neonatal morbidities were compared between late preterm and term infants. Chi-square test and Fishers exact test were used for statistical analysis. P value 0.05 was considered significant.Compared with term infants, late preterm infants are at high risk for overall morbidity, respiratory morbidity, and need of mechanical ventilation, jaundice, hypoglycaemia & sepsis. They also have a higher mortality as compared to term neonates. As study results were statisticaly very significant and not much study had been done in late preterms we therefore got interested in publishing this result in form of a book.
