Jack is the lost son of Jack Harper of the Hard Jack series. Jack Harper lost his life while searching for and after contacting the artificial intelligence. The AI inadvertently provided dad with some gene modifications that extended his lifespan and provided immunity to all disease. It also made him appealing to all women - overly so. The modifications were permanent and carried on into the lineage. Young Jack's foster family encouraged his love of rockets and as he grew into a man he built a small shop into the best rocketry production corporation in the world. Sales grew from swift to explosive as private firms and countries became aware of the profitable possibilities in space. From orbital habitats to weightless vacuum labs for medical productions. From asteroid miners to planetary research everyone wanted to launch into the future. Space exploration was the impetus for Jack to build the company in the first place. At the first opportunity he commandeered three of his largest rockets and planned a moon colony. He chose his ground crew, he chose his astronaut crew and he planned a large manufacturing facility suited for the moon. Upon arrival Jack and his crew set up the machinery to build the factory and housing in the midst of some harsh conditions. Power, heating, cooling and radiation protection were all critical. All of this profitable and useful work was a financial hedge against his actual mission - a personal search for alien artifacts on the moon. His research proved the existence of abandoned equipment strewn about our solar system. It was left over from some ancient civilization that had come and gone maybe leaving behind that AI that legend spoke of. The AI that had done something unknown with his real father. Almost as soon as he began prospecting he ran into trouble that he was very lucky to surmount. Already world class rich his finds would provide him with uncountable wealth. Jack had the key that others didn't. Would you be surprised that he found Americans and Russians and Indians and others in their respective fortresses tucked under the regolith?
