He won the prestigious American award, TheVera Rubin Residency Award, at Yaddo, SaratogaSprings, New York. He holds an MFA degree (a mastersdegree in fine arts) and a Ph. D. degree ininterdisciplinary studies.

Churaumanie Bissundyal has completed six novels, five books of
poems, one nonfiction, three screenplays, and ten plays. In 1988,
his play From Ganges to Demerary was staged at York University,
Toronto, Canada. He won The Vera Rubin Residency Award at Yaddo.
In 2005 he was awarded the Kavya Mani Award. He holds an MFA and
a Ph.D. degree.
