The work focuses on the study, design andimplementation of a C band Microwave oscillator usingcoaxial resonators, for the transceiver used in waveradar. It involves a literature study discussingdifferent aspects of microwave oscillators, mainlythe shielding of the oscillators, frequency pullingdue to load and supply pulling, tuning range and thetemperature performance of the oscillator. The studyof the shielding resulted in proposing a high qualitymetallic shield with high elastic modulus, highstrength and high density, as the wave radar will bea stationary, standalone system and the weight of theshield is not a limiting factor. The metallic shieldprovides better EMI and EMP performance than thecarbon ferrites. The characterization of theresonator is critical as a small mistake pulled thefrequency about 300 MHz. This can be achieved bycareful design and measuring the resonator testcircuits for one port. The tuning range of theoscillator is important as the temperature, bias, andload mismatches can increase or decrease thefrequency of the oscillator. The varactor incombination with a capacitor increases the tuningrange to about 10 times.
