Maria Dorobanţu is Professor of Cardiology at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila Bucharest, Romania, and head of the Cardiology Department of Clinical Emergency Hospital, Bucharest. She received a postdoctoral research grant from the French Government in 1991, conducting her research activity at University Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France. She has a special interest in the assessment and treatment of heart failure and arterial hypertension. She is the President of the Romanian Society of Hypertension. Between 2008 and 2014 she was member of CPC of ESC, Group of Hypertension. Since 2016 she is the chairperson of the Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation Working Group of European Society of Cardiology. Prof.Dorobantu is also a member of the Romanian Academy for Medical Sciences. She has published over 300 articles in highly qualified scientific journals with her work highly quoted in the scientific literature (Citations: over 2700; h-index 23). She is a corresponding member of the French Academy of Medical Sciences
Lina Badimon is the Director of the Cardiovascular Research Center in Barcelona (CSIC-ICCC) in the Hospital Santa Creu and San Pau, Director of the Cardiovascular Research Chair of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Director of the UNESCO Chair in Biomedical Sciences Training and Research. Her research activities focus on coronary artery disease, thrombosis and atherosclerosis and ischemic heart disease. She has published over 460 articles in highly qualified scientific journals with her work highly quoted in the scientific literature (Citations: over 21.504; h-index 64). She has written 230 reviews and book chapters. She is Member of Editorial Boards of various international scientific journals. Currently, Prof.Badimon is Vice-President of ESC in charge with Scientific Affairs (includes Working Groups, Councils and Women in Cardiology).
This comprehensive reference book of coronary microcirculation broadly covers theoretical aspects, clinical cases and therapeutic considerations from an innovative perspective. Topics covered include: ischemic heart disease, silent cerebral damage, heart failure, left ventricular hypertrophy arrhythmias, and cerebral and renal microcirculation.
Microcirculation: From Bench to Bedside underlines the clinical importance of addressing coronary microcirculation with relevant clinical examples that are often encountered by practitioners. It therefore provides a critical resource on microcirculation for both specialist and non-specialist practitioners.
