The present book is based on a study undertaken to investigate the perceptions of the people on climate change and the adaptive strategies as perceived by them in case of such an eventuality.
This micro level study was designed specifically to:
(I) Document the peoples perception on climate change;
(II) Understand the adaptation options that the community perceives;
(III) Document the changes in both wild and domesticated biodiversity that is perceived by the people to be affected by climate change;
(IV) Investigate the possible coping role of the local resources such as forests and biodiversity in case of any climate-change related eventuality, and
(V) Assess the existing institutional capacities to cope up with the eventualities and suggest effective institutional mechanism for the future.
The possible impacts of climate change in the study area were analyzed and the study focused on such natural disasters as drought, flash floods, increased temperature, erratic rainfall which are experienced at these low/mid-elevation zones of Himalaya/sub-Himalaya region.
