O autorze

Christof Thoenes (1928-2018) studierte Kunstgeschichte in Berlin sowie Pavia und promovierte und habilitierte in Berlin. Er war als Honorarprofessor an der Universität Hamburg und viele Jahre an der Bibliotheca Hertziana (Max-Planck-Institut) in Rom tätig. Zahlreiche Publikationen erschienen zur italienischen Kunst, insbesondere zu Architektur und Architekturtheorie des 15.-18. Jahrhunderts.

Frank Zöllner schrieb seine Dissertation über ein antikes Motiv in der Kunst- und Architekturtheorie des Mittelalters und der Renaissance (1987) und seine Habilitation über Leonardo da Vincis Bewegungsstudien (erschienen 2010). Er verfasste zahlreiche Publikationen zur Kunst und Kunsttheorie der Renaissance sowie über die Kunst des 20. Jahrhunderts. Seit 1996 ist er Professor für Mittlere und Neuere Kunstgeschichte an der Universität Leipzig. Bei TASCHEN veröffentlichte er XL-Monografien über Leonardo da Vinci und Michelangelo.
