Each country wants to increase the level of welfare with maximum benefits from the sea;but it must do within the framework of international regulations.In seas which is contiguous to more than one country,regulations are required and this situation limits the possibilities of the countries to benefit from the sea.For this reason,every coastal country aims to processing natural resources by achieving the highest authority.The importance of maritime jurisdiction for Mediterranean,an area which is at the intersection of energy sources and transport corridors,reflects legal,military,political and also commercial strategies applied in maritime areas.Purpose of the book is expressing the efficacy of delimitation of maritime boundaries on national security,social,economic,financial interests and indicate the importance of these efficacies on the Mediterranean security.So,basic concepts related to maritime jurisdiction are mentioned,it is defined what maritime area means for the coastal countries,some case studies are examined and finally the relation between delimitation of maritime boundaries and maritime security is indicated.(Akdeniz Yetki Alanlari ve Güvenligi).

I am a retired Navy Lieutenant,industrial engineer and maritime security expert with PhD holding the position of Guest Lecturer/Visiting Researcher at the World Maritime University/Sweden and Gazi University.In my PhD thesis,I developed a novel methodology to solve the Mediterranean jurisdiction areas dispute and its maritime security problems.
