Mental disorders are, undoubtedly, pathologies that currently affect a large part of the world population, being depressive disorder the one with the highest incidence; similarly, and according to reports from the World Health Organization, cases of self-injurious behavior, as well as the execution of completed suicide, like mental disorders, have had an alarming growth around the world, psychiatric disorders are the basis, on many occasions, of these fatalistic outcomes. Theoretically, some of the psychiatric disorders most frequently related to suicide are exposed, and from a bibliographic review of scientific literature of the last 5 years at Latin American level, it is reviewed not only the presence of medical/psychiatric pathologies are related to the history of IAE, or with the consummated suicide, but there are also multiple additional factors, here exposed, which are those that also influence in its execution; reason why it is of utmost importance to consolidate a wide vision, before this so delicate problem. It highlights the strengths and weaknesses of primary care centers.
