Martin Luther King is the giant of the mid-20th century. Brave and intelligent and dedicated to justice, equality, integration and equal rights. He achieved massive amounts of improvement for African-Americans in the United States and he did it non-violently. He was rewarded with a Nobel Prize. I fact he was the youngest man to ever be given that honor. This play touches on some of the major events in his life and the controversy surrounding his death. He was interviewed many times, but this play incorporates 3 interviews by national news writers. King was raised in a middle class environment and it wasn't until he was married and moved to a church in Montgomery, Alabama that he became exposed to the extreme hatred and segregation of the Deep South. He took to the civil rights movement like a fish takes to water and soon became the national figurehead for civil rights. And he his accomplishments were achieved with non-violence even though he suffered from violent attacks and was imprisoned many times for his beliefs. Finally his notoriety to the white segregationists cost him his life as he died from an assassins bullet.
