The rate of divorce among Christians should be reduced and the traditional spiritual benefits of marriage should regain importance. Marriage can be practiced as a spiritual discipline that will benefit the relationship as well as yielding sought after spirituality. In order to understand the problem, a survey on marriage attitudes and needs was given to random adults. The results exposed areas of marital agreement and discord. Principles of practicing marriage as a spiritual discipline are shown through the survey, case studies, and analysis of existing literature. Marriage as a spiritual discipline compliments the findings and advice of leading marriage researchers. While the study is directed towards a Christian audience, anyone can benefit from the ideas presented. The authors desire is to be a blessing to marriage, and this work is dedicated to that goal.
