The desire to spread the goodness of climate and soils of Eden Patate paradise Ecuador motivated me to write about something that is ours, the cherimoya or Pearl of the Andes. Originating in the border area between Ecuador (Loja) and Peru at 1550 - 2200 m.a.s.l. it has large areas ideal for the cultivation of the fruit of undeniable qualities. Countries with vision such as Spain, Israel, Chile and others, have organized their orchards with more technique. The U.S.A., with its Department of Fruit Culture, has obtained varieties for cold to temperate climates such as Bays and Booth. It requires 600 - 1400 m.m. of precipitation, today it is cultivated in countries with subtropical climate with soils of p.H. 5.5 - 8 and organic matter content of 1.7 - 2.7%. It prefers medium loamy texture and temperatures: Min. 14, Opt. 16 and Max. 25oC. It is propagated sexually by seed and asexually by grafting, achieving quality plants and fast production. It is planted from 6x6 to 8x8 m. To make orchards should be selected varieties of medium to thick bark for better preservation of the fruit of delicious aroma and flavor. It is pruned from 1 - 3 years obtaining formed plants and helping with good nutrition and ideal planting and irrigation systems.
