Cortical developmental malformations (CDMs) refer to a broad spectrum of brain anomalies formed during embryogenesis. Their etiologies remain dominated by genetic and environmental causes. They are characterized by a great clinical polymorphism and an absence of clinical-radiological parallelism. MDCs are one of the main causes of drug-resistant epilepsy. Their typology is based on brain MRI which allows to distinguish neuronal and glial proliferation disorders, neuronal migration disorders and post-migratory cortical development disorders. Their management is multidisciplinary. Efforts remain to be made in terms of antenatal diagnosis and surgical management, particularly in developing countries.
