Whatever Truman's opinion of Darrow, his obvious resemblance to the warris will throw Truman into Matat's tangled political struggles on the side of the Latymer family, whose wealth many envy and whose domain many other elite families seek to overthrow at every opportunity. But for Jinx, this assignment will prove the most costly. Not only must she face her own past as an outcaste, but she has been given the task of protecting her mentor Rai from Morrigan without his knowledge. Last time, Jinx sacrificed her own life to save Rai. This time, in order to fulfill the terms of her assignment, she will be called to risk something infinitely precious to her: Rai himself.
