This is the tale of three women institutionalised at the turn of the 20th century in a "lunatic asylum" as it was then known. Two of the women manage to overcome their situation and are freed and one does not. The story which can be described as an historical romance is based on research undertaken by the author for her Masters degree in respect of an asylum based in Hertfordshire, U.K. and the historical descriptions are accurate while the characters are based on fiction.
