FPN is defined by the WHO as any live birth of a child weighing less than 2500g, and also includes newborns whose birth weight is below the 10th percentile on the lubchenco curve, or a weight at less than two standard deviations.According to the WHO, 17% of children are born with less than 2500g in industrialized countries and 90% in developing countries. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Lubumbashi memory and EDS 2013 and 2014 represent 9%.The objectives of the present work are to determine the frequency of newborns with LBW and to identify the factors associated with the morbidity and mortality associated with LBW. We conducted a retrospective documentary study at the Kintambo maternity hospital from January 2017 to January 2018. The study population consisted of all parturients giving birth to LBW newborns at the kintambo maternity hospital, as well as any LBW newborns included in the study.
