Aquaculture is the fastest growing food production sector in the world. The most critical stage in the production cycle for many species is still the larval stage. The primary problem in larviculture is food. Early stages of fish have very high potential of growth, which require an abundant and adequate supply of nutrients. Live food plays important role to meet the nutritional requirements of many fish species. As interest in larviculture is increasing, demand for live food is also increasing. To meet the requirements, research on the development of mass production techniques for live feed with easily available food ingredient is a need of the hour. Along with mass production, maintenance of nutritional quality of produced live feed is also very important. This book is an attempt in this direction. First objective of this work is to find out an easily available and suitable diet for the mass production of different zooplanktons. Second endeavour is to do biochemical profiling of produced live food and third aim is to enrich those zooplanktons with lacking nutrients. This book will help fish farmers, researchers and feed industry to develop protocol for successful larviculture.
