Volume VII of the historical-critical edition of the works of Droste-Hulshoff, entitled "Literary collaboration, notes, last will and testament" contains more in the way of material not hitherto accessible for scholarly purposes than any of the former volumes. It begins with the anonymous contributions made by Droste to the works of other authors, notably Levin Schucking. There follows an extensive collection of notes and summaries made by Droste on works she had read, ranging from isolated jottings to carefully worked-out critical remarks, some referring to English and French literature. Of interest is also the brief record of a journey to the Netherlands. The volume closes with the text of a last will and testament plus the draft for the establishment of a foundation, with which Droste hoped to get round the prescribed male line of testamentary succession.
