Women in unorganised sector are facing a myriad of problems in their daily life. They not only face work place harassments, pay discrepancies, violence and unhygienic working conditions but they lack proper recognition by their employers and even the state. They are not benefited by any type of pension plans, increment or insurance. They are getting low wages compared to the women working in urban areas. The women workers do not receive sufficient attention from the trade unions, inadequate and inefficient labours laws and standards relating to the unorganized sectors are prominent as well. Male workers and supervisors can sometimes be hostile and rude towards their female fellow workers and often end up making some misogynistic comment. While right to livelihood is a basic human right, this type of environment makes it very difficult for these women to earn a livelihood.
