The goal of this textbook is to introduce basic concepts of lentic Ecosystems of Bhadravathi Taluk, preferably distribution, chemical, physical and phytoplankton productivity. I did feel the need of a book which could provide Comprehensive information on lentic water body distributions regarding their utility of common people, size, class, cattachment areas and land utilization of patterns of taluk. This small geographical area with intense survey of water bodies and their characteristics in all spectrums added to database systems, which will enhance the national lentic water body data base systems of country. Separate chapters have, therefore, been provided for some important physical and chemical parameters of water bodies with regarding pollution status. A separate chapter has been devoted to phytoplankton productivity and biomass it more boosted the carbon sequestration of planktonic form and also provides the water bodies are biological rich or not and how they influence the water quality of taluk.
