The purpose of this book is to explore understandingsof leadership and creativity and how they are seen toconnect in not for profit arts organisations.Creativity and artistic practice are generally agreedas being at the core of an arts organisation smission. Using a case study methodology, the studyfocuses on six different arts organisations. Thestudy demonstrates that there is ahigh degree of recognition by those involved withinthese arts organisations, of the need for a creativeculture and for creativity in general. However, whileit is recognised that a creative culture andcreativity are seen as important, leadership as thedeterminant of that creativity, is not necessarilyviewed as the major catalyst. It is acknowledgedthough that the changing environment, which isplacing an increased emphasis on income generation, can have a negative effect on an art organisation screative culture and its leadership. This book shouldappeal to all those involved with the arts sector andthe creative industries, as well as those who aremore broadly interested in understandings ofleadership and creativity in the workplace.
