This study explored the experiences, dispositions, and leadership of turnaround principals from Illinois and Indiana who were able to dramatically change the academic performance of students. Principals revealed how they turned around their schools and included their reflections on how doing that required change and growth. Knowledge derived has implications for aspiring principals, principals, superintendents, boards of education, and colleges of education.
