Norbert Fischer's work on Kant includes (with Dieter Hattrup) Metaphysik aus dem Anspruch des Anderen: Kant und Levinas (Schöningh, 1999); Kants Metaphysik und Religionsphilosophie (Meiner, 2004); Kants Grundlegung einer kritischen Metaphysik (Meiner, 2010); and (as coeditor) Die Gottesfrage in der Philosophie Immanuel Kants (Herder, 2010). He studied philosophy, theology, and German philology at the universities of Mainz and Freiburg im Breisgau and earned his Ph.D. and Habilitation in philosophy. He was Professor of Philosophy at Mainz (1985-88), Trier (1989-90), Paderborn (1991-95) and Eichstatt (1995-2013). His research interests include Plato, Augustine, Kant, Heidegger, and Levinas; philosophical theology; metaphysics; the foundations of practical philosophy; and philosophy of religion.
