With this book readers not only read a joke, but they become actively involved in a learning exercise. This is achieved by presenting jokes in different formats such as:

• one joke with several possible punchlines: readers prove their understanding of the joke by choosing the correct punchline
  
• three jokes and three punchlines: readers match the jokes with the right punchlines
  
• one joke but all the sentences in the joke have been mixed up: readers have to put the sentences in the correct order
  
• one joke with certain key words removed and put into a box below the joke: the reader has to insert the words from the box into the right blank spaces in the joke.

O autorze

Since 1984 Adrian Wallwork has been teaching English as a foreign language - from General English to Business English to Scientific English. Although he lives and works in Pisa (Italy), through his university work he has taught students of all nationalities. Adrian is the author of over 30 textbooks for Springer Science + Business Media, Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, the BBC, and many other publishers.

• The joke has a choice of three punch lines. If you select the correct one, this should be an indicator that you have understood the joke.
  
• Several two-line jokes are presented together. The task is to match the first line and the second line.
  
• A joke is presented with some key words missing. The task is to insert the right word in the right place.
