Jerome (c. 345-420) was one of the greatest biblical scholars of antiquity. Among his achievements was his Latin translation of the Bible "according to the Hebrew," or iuxta Hebraeos. One of the interesting aspects of A.K.'s work is his emphasis on Jerome's early interest in the Hebrew text...A.K.'s work stands out through the clarity and lucidity of its exposition and argument. Especially his comparison between the approach of Origen and Jerome is exemplary. A good bibliography and several indexes enhance the usefulness of this monograph.
